Certification of a pool barrier is required where a pool or spa safety barrier has been constructed without a building permit, or where evidence is required in order to ensure that an existing safety barrier meets current code requirements. We can inspect barriers and issue a certification letter to Council stating all works have been constructed in accordance with the relevant codes and standards.
Building Regulations 2018 require all existing swimming pools to be provided with a compliant safety barrier complying with current standards. We can either inspect and provide a report on what needs to be rectified in order to comply with the current requirements, or we can be engaged to issue a building permit to install a new compliant barrier.
What is our process?
Our process is:
- Complete our Building Consulting Application Form along with payment of fees.
- SP will then complete a site inspection and prepare a report confirming any non-compliances with the safety barrier.
- Should a building permit not be required, we will issue a certification letter stating the safety barrier has been built to standard.
- If a building permit is required to rectify the safety barrier will ask for documentation to show how the barrier is to be made compliant to current code requirements.
SP will send out one of our inspectors within 3 days to assess the state of the barrier. An inspection report will then prepared and email to you within 2 days. We allow one week turn around between inspection and report.
